The call came into police around 2:20 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 12, for a possible crash in Poughkeepsie at 70 Livingston St., said City of Poughkeepsie Police Sgt. George Camacho.
When officers arrived on the scene they discovered that the driver had an apparent gunshot wound, Camacho said.
City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department personnel and Mobile Life Support Services had also responded to the scene and the victim was transported to a local hospital.
A short time later, the victim was pronounced dead by hospital staff, Camacho said.
The victim is a 29-year-old City of Poughkeepsie resident.
"At this time, the victim’s name is being withheld to allow time for family members to be notified," Camacho said.
